Introduction

In 2008 we organized our first international week. Our objectives were:

  • pooling visits of international partners and offer them an interesting, inspiring and vibrant week;
  • Strengthening our partnernetwork (national and international);
  • Initiate international education and / or researchprojects.

Over the years this event has grown bigger and bigger. At this moment we welcome over 50 national and international partners and ± 60 incoming international students.

Comments from our guests from the previous editions

  • Thank you so much for a fun and inspiring week. My compliments to the team at the International Office who worked so hard to organise this event. Well done!  (Cathrine Ulstrand, IBM Dublin)

  • . ... I couldn't agree more, thank you all ! (Josephine Wempe, Hanze, Groningen)
  • Thank you once again for everything – I had a great time as usual!  ( Martin Buxbaum, fh des bfi Vienna, Austria)
  • I am writing this very short email to THANK YOU GREATLY for the nice week I spend in extremely beautiful Leuven. I was extremely impressed by the level of organization of the International week! I really enjoyed it, the students were very much reciprocal to my sessions and I enjoyed giving lectures too. Last but not least, I would like to thank you for the great hospitality you showed with me. I felt really really welcome. Please pass on my regards to my 2 buddies! They were very nice.I really look forward to welcoming those students later on in Malta. (Joseph Borg, Paragon, Malta)
  • one of the professors told me, that this group of people doesn’t only get together in Leuven to hold lectures and do their jobs as experts, but also because they’ve became friends during the years. She referred to this group of professionals as a family and after this week I think I’ve seen it how true is that. Some of them have already known each other before, and this week is their reunion every year, the others have grown fond of each other during the many International Weeks throughout the years. ( Bence Gallo, Trainee International Office, KHLeuven)
  • The International Week at KHL must be unique for Europe, at least, I have not heard about something similar. We (the lectures) get the opportunity to meet colleagues and to discuss new collaborations - and, not the least, to meet new students. The students get the opportunity to meet other teachers than the "common ones". All this takes place in beautiful Leuven, in an extremely friendly and warm atmosphere. All possible credits to the International Office at KHL - may this event go on also in the future, please!
  • It is always a pleasure to participate in such a well-organised event! And it is truly a delight to be able to meet old friends and new friends in a professional yet social context. This event is a text book example of how international networking should be carried out. My sincerest compliments to the team behind it who worked around the clock to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Bravo and thank you!
